Welcome to the What’s On Guide – Basingstoke Community Radio’s events list, sponsored by the Basingstoke Observer, Basingstoke’s only local independent newspaper.

HHCR, Basingstoke Community Radio is pleased to promote local charitable and non-profit-making events, plus our commercial partner’s events across Basingstoke and the surrounding areas. Destination Basingstoke’s Hampshire Hogs Art Sculpture Trail – 2021

A fantastic summer activity! Your chance to find all 17 life sized hogs painted by local artists installed in and around Basingstoke town centre. The full art trail will be in place for two months from 10 August 2021, when everyone will be able to enjoy it for free!

Hampshire Hogs is entirely funded through sponsorship – the headline sponsor is Absolutely Offices and the bespoke App by Apptaura, the project is also supported by Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council and individual Hogs have also been sponsored.

The artists selected for the project are: Laura Fisher, Alison Allan, Rachel Davis, Catherine Knighton, Andrew Denton, Fatima Pantoja, Sian Storey, Teela Blacklaws, Liam Kellher, Samantha Emmons, Joanne Morse, Amy Goodman, Jillian Smith, Katy Stevens and students at QMC and BCoT. Each one was selected from a range of designs submitted to Destination Basingstoke for consideration by the sponsors.

Hampshire Hogs is a project by Destination Basingstoke, a not-for-profit company that has a program of major events to showcase the area, including the Basingstoke Half Marathon, the Hampshire OctoberFest, and the Inspire Business Awards all demonstrating Basingstoke has a superb quality of life and business.

Basingstoke Festival of Transport – Sunday 22nd August 2021

Subject to any COVID-19 restrictions, the War Memorial Park will once again be filled with over 900 vehicles at the Basingstoke Festival of Transport – Sunday 22nd August 2021.

There should be a spectacular display of vehicles including:

  • classic
  • vintage
  • commercial vehicles
  • fire engines
  • military trucks

There promises to be a range of specialist car clubs, trade stalls and catering outlets also in attendance.

Basingstoke Festival of Transport is a great day out for all the family! HHCR will be in attendance and will feature live talk backs between 12pm – 2pm, visit our gazebo and say hello!

There is accessible car parking and toilets. Shop Mobility scooters are also available.

If you wish to exhibit your vehicle or would like to take a trade pitch at the festival, please visit the Rotary’s Club website to complete register forms.

HHCR – Basingstoke Community Radio will once again be attending the Basingstoke Festival of Transport which is delivered in partnership with Basingstoke and Deane Rotary Club and Basingstoke Thornycroft Society with support from Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council.

Chineham & Sherfield Park Scarecrow Trail

The Basingstoke and District Disability Forum is once again holding their Chineham & Sherfield Park Scarecrow Trail – 24th – 30th July 2021.

The theme for this year is ‘Heroes & Villains’!

If you live within the Chineham & Sheffield Park areas and wish to enter and therefore create a scarecrow simply email: chair@bddf.org.uk (£5 to enter which includes a map).

Trophies will be awarded for winning houses & streets including funniest, most innovative and a new category of best street with 4 or less houses and best street of 5 or more houses!

If you would like to volunteer to help run the event or donate raffle prizes please message info@bddf.org.uk.
